How This Started

Seven years inside LookGroup. Nine years since I met Ed.

In that time we shared ideas constantly. About the company, about the global approach, about where the group could go. I kept writing things down. One idea leading to another.

Last year one conversation made it concrete.

Ed and I were talking about Dior Parfum managing its wall decor program across 700 locations. How they handle it today. How LookGroup could support more of it. Offer end-of-life services. Go further than production. The question came up: will a tool like Buildertrend or LookConnex solve this?

That question opened everything.

LookGroup already had every piece of the answer.

TLC deploys retail lightbox programs globally. SSP designs and produces wall surfaces. ScanAudit audits the space before a single panel is specified. Maison Jacquard brings new textile products to market. Our layer printing wall panels brand is on the way.

Every division inside this group touches the same physical Surface at a different moment in its life.

That word. Surface. That is where the name came from.

One platform. One contract. One account manager.
Every LookGroup product in a single environment.
Built in parallel with running this division. Conviction before budget.

That changes today.
01 — Platform

Live.
Demo-ready.
Three verticals.

One infrastructure. One login. Built and deployed.

Retail
Visual Communication Lifecycle

Every surface tracked from specification to end of life. Campaign coordination across 40 countries. CSRD carbon reporting from operational data. ScanAudit entry for stores without floor plans.

Hospitality
Art Program + Commerce

Surface program management and art collections in one environment. QR per artwork surface. Guest purchases. Production routes to nearest LookGroup facility. Property earns commission on every sale.

Municipality
Flagtrax Urban Network

Full Flagtrax campaign lifecycle from pole audit to installation proof. Five-role workflow. Payment approval built in. From a street lamp pole to a delivered, documented campaign.

Contract per client
The structural advantage
When a production order is triggered inside SurfaceLab, it routes to a LookGroup facility or a certified LookGroup partner. Four continents. Quality governance at every stage.

Competitors can copy the software.
Building a production network takes decades.
That network already exists inside this group.

The cross-sell architecture
Every LookGroup division sells through one relationship.

A client enters through ScanAudit. Surfaces are specified through SSP. Lightbox programs route to TLC. Textiles to Maison Jacquard. Layer printing panels to the new brand. End-of-life tracked automatically.

One contract. Every division. Every campaign cycle.

02 — Opportunity

The market is open.
The moat is built.

6 to 7 billion euro market. Production-linked lifecycle layer is empty.

Revenue model
SaaS
200 to 600 EUR per location per month
Production
15% margin on every order routed through platform
ScanAudit
From 2,000 EUR per location. Entry point for accounts without floor plans.
Art Commerce
Hotel property earns a commission on every artwork sale. Production runs on existing LookGroup machines and teams. Zero additional risk or inventory for the client.
At scale
1.8MEUR/yr

500-location client at 300 EUR/month.
SaaS only. Before production orders.

10 retail clients
8.5MMRR

SaaS alone. Before production margin.
Before ScanAudit. Before art commerce.

Retention
Structural, not relational.

Once a client's full estate is inside SurfaceLab, switching cost is their entire operational history.

03 — Roadmap

Four phases.
Each funded
by the previous.

  • Three verticals operational
  • 110 demo surfaces
  • 9 roles, full permission system
  • Alert engine in build
  • First pilot client: 90 days
Phase 2
Scale
  • Manufacturing routing automated
  • Carbon dashboard, CSRD
  • Multi-brand group accounts
  • ScanAudit cross-sell integrated
  • Mobile PWA
Phase 3
Group Integration
  • ERP connection to LookGroup
  • Order data sync
  • Full artwork file storage
  • AI surface intelligence
  • Predictive renewal engine
Phase 4
Substrate Transition
  • LED content management
  • Hardware tracking for screens
  • Content scheduling multi-site
  • Revenue mix shifts to SaaS
  • Client relationship holds
On LED and the lightbox transition
As LED replaces lightboxes in the coming years, the client stays inside SurfaceLab.

The platform manages content scheduling, hardware tracking, and renewal cycles for LED the same way it manages print today. Revenue shifts toward SaaS and content fees. The contract holds. The relationship deepens.

SurfaceLab is substrate agnostic by design. The hardware changes. The platform holds.

04 — Request

Two items.
Alignment,
not budget.

The platform is funded and live. What it needs is the group behind it.

01
ERP Integration Mandate

Connecting SurfaceLab to LookGroup systems automates production routing and order data sync. This is Phase 3 on the roadmap.

One named technical owner inside the group. The integration spec is written now. The build follows when pilot revenue funds it.

One decision. One contact. The build follows.
02
Technical Datasheet Access

Lightboxes, modular systems, textiles, flags. Every product we can sell through SurfaceLab carries technical data that currently sits outside my SSP activities.

I need access to these datasheets to connect them to SurfaceLab and back every specification with the right documentation.
